Race Day Classic Steer Show July 25-27, 2025

Entry Fee:

July 18, 2025 or before: $50 per head

Late Entry Fee (At Registration Only): $100 per head

*NO Refunds

Any calves brought on Grounds will pay full entry fee, even if not shown

Arrival Time:

Barn opens Friday, July 25th  at 12 NOON. All steers must be on the grounds by 8 am on Saturday, July 26th.

Stalls will be on a first come basis. No pre-stalling or saving stalls. Stalls will be limited to 4 feet per steer. Tack will be stored along walls or outside. NO CAMPING IN STALLS.

There will be a designated area for trailers if you wish to show off the trailer. These will also be on a first come basis. All empty trailers will be parked in the parking lot in a designated area. 

NO DOGS will be allowed on grounds except for ADA Service animals.

Check-in & registration will begin Friday from 5pm until 7pm, and Saturday, July 26th 8 am until 9 am. 

We will weigh & classify starting Saturday, at 9:30am.

Show Time:

On Saturday, will follow weigh in & Classification – time TBA. We will show all American breeds and English Breeds.

Sunday, July 27th at 9 a.m. Exotics will show.

Presentations/ Pictures:

During Show, Buckles presented on Sunday following the show.

Release Time: After Exhibitor has finished showing. All Breed Champions and Reserve Breed Champions must stay for the Overall Champion Show.

All animals and tack must be out of the barn 2 hours after completion of the show. GATES WILL BE LOCKED AT THAT TIME.

RULES OF THE SHOW

1. Open to all Steers. Exhibitors must be enrolled in FFA or 4-H. If 18, must still be in high school. A substitution form will need to be filled out, if needed. Substitute exhibitor must be entered in show. 

2. All steers must meet the rules of the Texas Animal Health Commission.

3. Steers will be weighed & classified with a 3-man classifying system, at classifiers discretion. 5% weigh back.

4. Blow and Show; no trim chutes; no butt fans; generators encouraged.

4a. No fans or Porta cools in aisles or behind cattle

5. Bring your own shavings

6. We will not furnish Port-A-Cools. If exhibitors bring a Port-A-Cools, you must bring a generator to run them. If Exhibitor wants to place a Port-A-Cool in a stall, exhibitor will have to pay $50 for that spot at time of entry, or be charged an additional $100 fee for the stall if not pre-paid.

7. One ring, one show.

8. 13 Breed format-three steers constitute a breed. 4 or less steers per breed will show as one class.

RULES OF THE SHOW

1. Exhibitors must be official members of 4-H or FFA organizations.

2. All animals must meet the rules of the Texas Animal Health Commission.

3. No painting, powdering or artificial coloring is allowed.

4. Goats must be uniformly shorn 3/8” or less above the knee and hocks.

5. Goats will be required to have horns tipped; no sharp point allowed.

6. Exhibitors are allowed to use halters or collars in the show ring.

7. Goats must be entered by 9 a.m. 

8. No trimming in pens or cattle ties

9. Weight cards must be turned in by Saturday, August 9, at 9 a.m.  Turn in your own weight card.

10. 4-lb weigh back from weight turned in.

11. Nannies or wethers may be shown.

12. Number of classes will be determined by number of entries received. 

13. Wood shavings only allowed in pen. 

14. Entries can arrive anytime on Friday.

RULES OF THE SHOW:

2. All Lambs must meet the rules of the Texas Animal Health Commission. 

3. Entries per exhibitor will not be limited.

4. Lambs may enter barn on Friday night and stay at owner’s risk. 

5. Lambs must be entered by 9 a.m. Saturday, August 9

6. Weight cards turned in by 9 a.m. August 9.

7. Classes: Fine wool, Fine wool and Medium Wool Cross, Medium Wool, Dorper and Southdown.

8. Turn in your own weight

9. A 3-peson sifting committee will classify lamb classes.

10. There will be a 5-lb. weight back for all placing lambs.

11. Lambs must be shorn slick; topknots and socks may be left on, if desired. 

12. No ram lambs may be shown. Ewe lambs can be shown.

13. NO SALE

14. Washing must be done in wash racks, no trimming or drying in wash racks. Clean up wool after trimming.

15. NO SHEARING IN CATTLE STALLS.

RULES OF THE SHOW

1. Entry fee $1 per head. 

2. Show times, presentation/pictures, release same as poultry 

3. If there are as many as three of the same breed and class, they will be judged separately.

Less than three in a class will be combined in one class and judged accordingly.

4. All breeds competing will be divided into Bucks over 6 months, Bucks under 6 months, Does over 6 months and Does under 6 months 

5. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding and watering their animals throughout the show.

(A Youth Showmanship Class

will be judged Saturday afternoon, Aug. 23, following the breeding sheep show, approx. 3pm. Any questions regarding the Showmanship Class, call the TAMU Agrilife Extension Office at  830- 997-3452.)

Mini-Hereford Show. Jr. Mini-Hereford Showmanship Immediately following Mini-Herefords. All other Mini breeds immediately following Mini-Herefords show.

Saturday, August 23 at 9a.m Open Cattle Show.


Entry Fee: $20 a head if entry received by Wednesday, August 13.

SHOW RULES

1. The Mini Hereford Show is open to any FFA or 4-H member. Junior Mini Herefords are open to ages 3-18. If 18, must still be in school. 

2. Steers allowed in Mini Hereford Show.

3. All cattle must meet State Health Department requirements. 

4. There will be a separate competition for each breed in the Open Cattle Show. Breeds not listed will show in their breed class. Classes will be according to age.

5. Registration papers must be presented at time of arrival. 

6. No open fans or alley fans allowed in the Livestock Barn- hanging fans only.

RULES OF THE SHOW

1. Registration paper must be present at time of arrival, if requested

2. Sheep originating in Texas intended for exhibition purposes must meet Texas Animal Health Commission requirements. All animals are required to have Scrapies Tags

3. Breeders will be limited to 15 head of one breed.

4. Breeders may show only 2 sheep in any certain class

5. No sheep may be washed outside of sheep wash rack. 

6. No trimming or drying in wash rack.

7. Clean up wool after trimming.

8. Release time at conclusion of their breed.

9. NOTE: Ewe Lamb Futurity will show during Breeding Sheep Show.

10. All Sheep will be classed according to age shown by teeth. (ewe lambs will be split by papers but must have lamb teeth to show in lamb class)

6. There will be no sift and no sale.

7. Breeds: Durocs, Hampshires, Yorks, OPB (light & dark) and Crosses.

8. No arrivals before Saturday unless arranged a head of time. 

9. All pigs will be assigned stalls upon arrival. Bring your own stall dividers

10. Turn in weight cards Friday p.m. through Saturday by 7:00 p.m.no exceptions

11. Judge has the right to discriminate on all breed characteristics.

12. NO CLIPPING AT THE SHOW.

13. NO OILS OR FORMS OF CHEMICALS MAY BE USED DURING SHOW. 

14. No showing off trailers this year

15. Boars can show if weigh 125 or less

16. Release after Show.
